Akash Malik has bagged a silver medal in archery at the ongoing third edition of the Youth Olympic Games.

Buenos Aires: India's Akash Malik has bagged a silver medal in archery at the ongoing third edition of the Youth Olympic Games.

The 15-year-old finished second on the podium after he lost 0-6 to Trenton Cowlesof the United States of America in the final of the event.

Malik failed to give much competition to his American counterpart as Cowles shot 28, 29 and 28 points on the 60-metre target to clinch gold in the event.

Belgium's Senna Roos, on the other hand, settled for a bronze medal in the event after beating Artem Ovchynnikov of Ukraine 7-3 in a five-setter.

Malik's silver marks the second consecutive Youth Olympic Games medal for India in archery following Atul Verma's bronze in the boys' event in 2014 edition of the tournament.

India concluded their campaign at the 2018 Youth Olympics with a total of 13 medals- three gold, nine silver, and one bronze. (ANI)
