Dubai: India defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets to register their maiden win in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Dubai on Sunday.
Harmanpreet Kaur-lead India required a win to keep their hopes alive after loosing to New Zealand in their opening game.

For India, Arundhati Reddy took three wickets while Shreyanka Patil got 2, restricting Pakistan to 105/8 runs in stipulated 20 overs.
Right-handed Nida Dar scored the higest individual score from Pakistan (28 off 34 balls).
Now, India will take on Sri Lanka on September 9 at the same venue.

Mandhana departs early
Chasing a paltry target of 106 runs, India got off to a bad start as they lost Smriti Mandhana (7) in the fifth over. She was caught by Tuba Hassan off Sadia Iqbal. However, Shafali Verma (32 off 35 balls, 3 fours) and Harmanpreet Kaur's crucial innings (29 runs off 24 balls) helped India clinch its first win in the tournament.
With the victory, India improved their net run rate to -2.900 to -1.22 from in group A, still lacking behind from Austraial and New Zealand.
