New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday blamed the Uttar Pradesh government and police for the Sambhal violence and also demanded that a murder case be registered against the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police.

Speaking in Lok Sabha, the Kannauj MP said: "The incident that took place in Sambhal was a well-planned conspiracy and the brotherhood in Sambhal has been destroyed. The police and administration is responsible for the Sambhal violence and a murder case should be filed against the DM and SP."

He said a petition was filed against the mosque in the court of Civil Judge, Chandausi on November 19. "The court ordered a survey of the mosque on the same day without hearing the other party," he added.

Akhilesh further said that the next date of the hearing was scheduled for 29 November, but the police said that the survey will be done again on 24 November. "The advocate of Jama Masjid told the police that when the survey has been completed, then what is the need for this? Even if there is a need, take an order from the court. But the police listened to no one and reached the mosque on the morning of 24 November for the survey," he said.
"On November 24, when the second survey was being conducted peacefully, the Circle Officer abused the people who were protesting the survey and resorted to lathicharge. After this, police opened fire, during which dozens were injured and five were killed," the former Uttar Pradesh CM said in the lower house.
