New Delhi: After a major reshuffle in the Union Bureaucracy last midnight, speculations are high in the power corridors as to who will get the coveted post of Cabinet Secretary.

At the same time, a few names are also taking rounds for the post of Home Secretary. 

The tenure of Rajiv Gauba as Cabinet Secretary and Ajay Kumar Bhalla as Home Secretary ends this month.

Ajay Kumar Bhalla assumed the office of Home Secretary on 23 August 2019, succeeding Rajiv Gauba. He is a senior IAS officer of 1984 batch, from Assam Meghalaya cadre.

Rajiv Gauba is currently serving as the Cabinet Secretary since from 30 August 2019. His term is the longest in history. He is a senior IAS officer belonging to the 1982 batch of Jharkhand (earlier Bihar) cadre. Prior to his appointment as Cabinet Secretary, he was Home Secretary.
