Kolkata: A huge protest erupted in South 24 Parganas after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered while returning home from her tuition classes.

The girl, who had gone missing on Friday night, was found dead on Saturday morning. Subsequently, the villagers gathered in large numbers and protested against the police, accusing them of failing to take timely action.

The victims' family and villagers have alleged that the girl was raped before her body was thrown into the canal. 

Accused arrested
According to reports, the police has arrested the accused.

Agitators vandalise police stataion 

People vandalises police station 

In a video, which has surfaced on Internet, people can se seen arguing with police officials and vandalising a police station with sticks. The agitators also damaged two-villers and other public property in the area.
