Weather Update: IMD predicts light to moderate rain in Delhi
The Indian Meteorological department (IMD) on Friday predicted cloudy sky with moderate to light rainfall in Delhi and its adjoining areas.
New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological department (IMD) on Friday predicted cloudy sky with moderate to light rainfall in Delhi and its adjoining areas.
“The relative humidity recorded at 0830 hrs was 82 per cent,” said the IMD. The minimum temperature was settled at 25 degrees, which is a slight dip from yesterday's temperature of 27.3 degree Celsius. According to the weather department, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees during the day, whereas the maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 34 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, some parts of Delhi have received rain in the morning hours (2 am to 5 am) on Friday. The Safdarjung weather station recorded 0.2 mm of rainfall, while the Palam observatory center logged 17.2 mm of rainfall.

Rainfall that Delhi has received so far this month exceeds the long period average. While the city has received 129.1 mm of rain till September 9, the normal for the same time period is 56.8 mm. The surface winds in Delhi were moving towards Northeasterly with a speed of nearly 14.7 kilometres per hour,” said the IMD. Meanwhile, the air quality index in most places of the national capital remains in the unhealthy to moderate category.

In Wazirpur and Anand Vihar the air quality index was recorded at 162 and 151 marks respectively. According to IMD, a low pressure area is likely to form over North and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal around 11th September and it is very likely to concentrate into a Depression over northwest & adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around 13th September.

“Rainfall activity is likely to increase with isolated heavy falls over south Haryana, southwest Uttar Pradesh during 10th to 11th September. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over Uttarakhand and isolated heavy falls are likely over Jammu division and Himachal Pradesh during 1st half of the week,” it said. (UNI)
