Vande Bharat Mission Phase 2: Flight with 183 Indians departs from Oman
An Air India Express repatriation flight with 183 stranded Indians on board departed from here to Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
Muscat [Oman]: An Air India Express repatriation flight with 183 stranded Indians on board departed from here to Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The flight is also bringing back mortal remains of a person who died in Oman.
"IX 554 departed for Trivandrum with total 183 passengers and 1 mortal remain. Gratitude to Omani authorities @MofaOman, @OmaniMOH, @PACAOMAN; Indian authorities @PMOIndia, @HMOIndia, @MOCA_GOI, @MoHFW_INDIA, @MEAIndia @airindiain & Kerala Govt. for cooperation and support," Indian Embassy in Oman tweeted.
The phased evacuation is being done under the Centre's 'Vande Bharat' mission which flagged off its second phase from May 16.
In order to facilitate the return of stranded Indian nationals in Oman, the Indian government has decided to operate seven more special flights to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Calicut, Delhi, Kannur, Kochi and Gaya on May 18, 20, 21, 22 and 23.
Under the second phase, a total of 149 flights, including feeder flights, is expected to operate to bring back stranded Indians from 40 countries. (ANI)
