Uttarakhand: 25 killed in Pauri-Garhwal bus accident, rescue continue

At least 25 people have died in Pauri Garhwal district after a bus full of wedding processions fell into a deep gorge late on Tuesday evening. Read more on Dynamite News:

Dehradun: At least 25 people have died in Pauri Garhwal district after a bus full of wedding processions fell into a deep gorge late on Tuesday evening.

In the overnight rescue carried out by villagers, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police personnel, 21injured processions have been taken to nearby hospital.

State Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar said that 25 people are likely to have died in the accident. There were about 45 to 50 people in the bus. Awaiting more details.

The wedding processions had left for Kanda village of Pauri district at one o'clock on Tuesday afternoon. The processions were in the bus, while the groom Sandeep had gone by car. The bus full of procession crashed near Bironkhal Simdi band of Pauri.

President Draupadi Murmu has expressed grief over the accident. She tweeted, "Saddened by the accident of many casualties after the bus fell into the valley in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this accident. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.  (UNI)
