Mainpuri: A youth killed five persons, including three family members, and injured two with a sharp-edged weapon and later committed suicide in the Kishani area of Mainpuri district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinod Kumar said that Shiv Veer Yadav (30), a resident of Gokulpura village, killed his brothers Khullan, Sonu, his wife Soni, brother-in-law Saurabh and friend Deepak with a sharp-edged weapon.

He said that Shiv Veer later slit himself and committed suicide. "Sonu the brother of the accused got married on Friday and they came back from Etawah in the evening. The reason behind the incident is not clear yet," he said.

Police sources said that two persons were injured and have been admitted to the hospital. "It is being said that the incident took place between 3 am to 4 am," they said. (with UNI inputs)
