Uttar Pradesh: Sand-laden truck overturns on hut killing 8 of a family

Hardoi: Eight members of a family were killed, and a girl was injured when a truck loaded with sand overturned on a hut in Mallawan town in Hardoi, police sources said here on Wednesday.
According to police, Balla Kanjar and his family lived in the hut built alongside the road at Chungi number 2. "Late on Tuesday night around 1:30 am, the truck loaded with sand overturned on the hut, and all the family members were buried under the sand," they said.

Police sources said that a rescue operation was launched immediately after getting the information. "By the time the sand was removed, Balla (45), his wife Mundi (42), daughters Sunaina (5), Lalla (4), Buddhu (4), son-in-law Karan (25), his wife Heo (22) and daughter Komal (5) died," they said.
