Uttar Pradesh police recruitment: Written exam for 60,244 constable positions scheduled for August

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has announced the written examination for the direct recruitment of 60,244 constable positions in the civil police.

The exams will be held on August 23, 24, 25, and August 30, 31, 2024, stated an official Press release. This examination will be conducted in two shifts daily on the said dates and about 5 lakh candidates will appear in this examination in each shift.

Previously cancelled, this exam has been rescheduled following directives from the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to ensure it meets the highest standards of integrity and transparency.

The Uttar Pradesh government is committed to conducting the examination within a specified time frame, adhering to these rigorous standards.

To ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process, detailed guidelines regarding exam preparations, selection of test centres, verification of candidates, and prevention of impersonation were issued by the Uttar Pradesh government on June 19, 2024. The exam will be conducted in accordance with these standards.

Additionally, to prevent malpractices such as question paper leaks and tampering with answer sheets, the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Ordinance-2024 (Uttar Pradesh Ordinance No. 6 of 2024) was notified on July 1, 2024. This ordinance stipulates severe penalties, including fines up to one crore rupees and life imprisonment, for using or facilitating unfair means during the exam, an official release said.

The written examination for the constable recruitment will be conducted on the aforementioned dates, with two shifts each day. Approximately 500,000 candidates are expected to participate in each shift.

Candidates attending the examination will benefit from free bus services provided by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.

To avail of this service, candidates must download two additional copies of their admit card: one for travel to the exam centre and the other for return travel. Both copies should be presented to the bus conductor.
