Chandauli:  A 45-year-old man was set on fire by two persons allegedly over a land dispute in Mughalsarai area of Chandauli district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said.

Police sources said that Vijay Gupta, a resident of Dandi village, is having a dispute over land with Chandra Bhushan Tripathi, a resident of Bahadurpur, and the matter is pending in the court.

"Hearing in the case was scheduled on Tuesday," they said.

Police sources said that it is being alleged that while Vijay was going to the court Chandrabhushan and his nephew Utkarsh poured inflammable substances on him and set him on fire.

"By the time local residents rushed to the spot and doused flames Vijay had sustained 30 percent burns," they said.

Police sources said that Vijay has been admitted to a private hospital. "Chandrabhushan and Utkarsh have been arrested," they said.

Circle Officer (CO) Mughalsarai Aniruddh Singh said that two persons have been arrested and further action is being taken.(UNI)
