Pratapgarh:  A man allegedly killed a newly-wed woman before taking his own life in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh, sending a shockwave across the district. 

According to Dynamite News correspondent, the incident occurred in Madafarpur market of the Kohdaur police station area where the crazy lover first allegedly shot the woman and later killed himself.

The deceased girl has been identified as Jyoti Verma. She was married four days ago. She had come to her maternal home, where on Monday evening Udayraj Verma attacked her before 'killing' himself about 150 meters away.

The accused, a resident of Pipri Khalsa village under Kandhai police station area, was not happy due to her marriage.

Superintendent of Police Dr. Anil Kumar Singh said that a 15 bore pistol has been recovered near the body of the accused. Both the deceased knew each other for long.
