Unnao: At least six passengers lost their lives, and 20 others sustained injuries in a tragic accident in Safipur, Unnao district, on Sunday. 

The incident occurred on the Hardoi-Unnao highway near Jamalpur village when a truck collided with a bus, tearing apart one side of the bus.

"Six passengers were killed on the spot, and 20 others were injured in the incident," they said. Police sources said that initially the injured were taken to the community health center, from where they were referred to Kanpur and Unnao for treatment.

The injured were initially taken to the community health center and later referred to hospitals in Kanpur and Unnao for further treatment. Circle Officer (CO) Safipur Rishi Kant Shukla confirmed the deaths and the transfer of the injured.

Efforts are currently underway to identify those who lost their lives in the accident. The driver of the truck has been apprehended.
