Sultanpur: At least five people were killed and three others injured after the e-rickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a speeding truck on Friday. 

Two persons including the truck driver have been arrested and further investigation is underway, an officer said.

Phool Kali (60), Rajendra (45), Raghuvir (55), Nirmala (52) and an unidentified person were killed on the spot, the officer said, adding those injured were rushed to a district hospital.

The accident occurred on the Prayagraj-Ayodhya bypass near Odra village.

District Magistrate Ravish Gupta, along with Superintendent of Police Somen Barma, visited the injured at the hospital.

The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, police said.
