Lucknow: About 20 km away from capital city Lucknow at Rehmankhera in Kakori, several teams of the forest department are carrying out rescue operation of a tiger who has created panic in the area after killing some Nilgais and other cattle.
The operation has been named ‘Rehamankhera Tiger Rescue Operation 2024-25’.
Senior IFoS officer and APCCF/CCF Lucknow Zone, Dr Renu Singh is leading the tiger rescue operation in Rehmankhera.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, the first information about the tiger's activities in Rehmankhera was received on 3 December 2024. The next day, the forest department formed a team at the range level to locate the tiger by tracking its activities.

On December 12, the tiger killed a Nilgai inside the Rehmankhera Institute and consumed it up to 90 percent. The tiger then killed a Nilgai calf on December 17. Thus, the terror of the tiger continued and on December 23, 25 and 28, the tiger made different animals its prey.
Senior IFoS officer Renu Singh told Dynamite News that teams have been formed at various levels in Rehmankhera for three different zones to safely capture the tiger. In addition to 2 machans in Zone 1, one more machan has been added in Zone 2 (Meethenagar) for monitoring.
The efforts are being made to track the tiger with different techniques along with the help of scaffolding.
Renu Singh said that our major priority is to capture the tiger as soon as possible so that it does not cause further loss of life and property.

At the same time live baits have been increased, she added.
She said that Dr Daya Shankar from Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, Dr NItish Katiyar from Kanpur Zoo and Dr Vineet are there for rescue operations.
To facilitate the operation, seven CCTV cameras have been deployed to have the live footage at important points/junctions to monitor the latest activities of the tiger.
She expressed confidence that we will capture the tiger safely soon.
