Maharajganj: Three schoolgirls were killed and 11 others injured when the rear tyres of the Bolero, they were travelling in to take the Board exams, got burst, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The District Magistrate Anunaya Jha and the Superintendent of Police Somendra Meena reached the spot to take stock of the situation.

Dynamite News correspondent further reports the DM said that as per the information received, as many as 12 high school girls were going to Mahesh Ram Kanya Vidyalaya in Dhani Bazar to take the examination in a Bolero UP 56 Z 5810.

The Bolero vehicle met with an accident near the petrol pump in Sikandrajitpur due to bursting of both the rear tyres.

Deceased Students

The deceased students are Preeti Gupta (16), daughter of Vinod Gupta, resident of Bargadwa police station Purandarpur; Chandni Patel (16), daughter of Rakesh Patel, resident of Karamha police station Purandarpur; and Gayatri (16) daughter of Bakhedu, resident of Bargadwa police station Purandarpur.

Injured Students

As many as 11 girls were injured out of which two suffered serious wounds. Those two are  Runjhun (16), daughter of Vinod Gupta, resident of Bargadwa police station Purandarpur; and Chandni (16), daughter of Abhimanyu Chaurasia, resident of Karamha Bujurg police station Purandarpur, who have been referred to District Hospital Siddharthnagar.

The bodies of the deceased students have been sent for postmortem after the Panchayatnama proceedings.

Condolences

The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police have  expressed their grief over the incident. They have assured all possible help including the treatment of the injurted. 

Further investigation is underway.
