Shamli: At least four criminals were killed and one STF inspector was injured after an encounter broke out between Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and miscreants in the wee hours of Tuesday, said police.

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, Mustafa Kagga gang member Arshad and his three associates Manjeet, Satish and an unknown person were killed in the firing that continued from both sides for about half an hour in Jhinjhana area of ​​Shamli.

One of the gang members, Arshad, who carried a bounty of Rs1L on his head, was wanted in more than 16 cases that were registered against him in Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar and Haryana.  

During the encounter, Inspector Sunil who was leading the STF team received multiple gunshot wounds and is undergoing treatment. Currently, he has been referred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, Haryana.

"The bodies of the miscreants have been kept in the mortuary," said SP Shamli, Ram Sewak Gautam.
