New Delhi: Bulandshahr clashes were a "big conspiracy", asserted  Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) O P Singh on Wednesday.

The violence in Bulandshahr claimed two lives, including that of a cop, who was the Investigating Officer (IO) in the Akhlaq lynching case.

The UP DGP informed that the team probing the matter has started a reverse investigation in the matter to unearth the truth.

"The incident in Bulandshahr is a big conspiracy. This is not only a law and order issue, how did the cattle carcass reach there? Who brought it, why and under what circumstances? We have started an investigation in the matter," he said.

The violence in  Bulandshahr erupted on December 5 over the reports of alleged cow slaughter in the vicinity.

Taking note of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a compensation of Rs 40 lakh for the deceased police officer's wife, Rs 10 lakh for his parents and a government job for one family member.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday also issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh seeking a detailed report in the incident within four weeks. (ANI)
