Two suspected criminals were arrested following an exchange of gunfire with police in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, officials said on Tuesday.
Noida: Two suspected criminals were arrested following an exchange of gunfire with police in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, officials said on Tuesday.
The gunfight broke out late Monday night near Rise City under the Bisrakh police station area, the officials said.
The accused were in a Hyundai Creta when they were gestured to stop for checking at a police picket. The car has a Haryana registered number. But instead of stopping, the accused fled the spot, raising suspicion, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Ankur Aggarwal said.

They were chased by a police party, leading to a gunfight in which two of the accused were hit on their legs in the counter firing by the police and held, Aggarwal said.
Those held have been identified as Siraj, a native of Rampur, and Ramu, who hails from Hathras, the police said.
The ADCP said a third person who was along with the duo in the car managed to escape during the gunfight and a hunt has been launched to trace him.

Two illegal firearms along with some ammunition have been seized from the duo's possession, he added.
