Two people died of sun stroke and another 44 suffered sun burns in Kerala as mercury continues to rise above normal.

Thiruvananthapuram: Two people died of sun stroke and another 44 suffered sun burns in Kerala as mercury continues to rise above normal.

Sources said the two people, a farmer, Unnikrishnan from Muriathottam near Parasala on the city suburbs and a woman labourer, Chinnammalu of Nallur in Palakkad, died of sun stroke on Saturday.

Maximum Temperature is very likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragode districts on March 31.

Fifteen people suffered sun burns in Kozhikode, 10 people in Kannur, 11 people in Kollam and eight people in Alappuzha, the sources added. (UNI)
