Twenty-nine members elected unopposed to Parliamentary Committee on Estimates
The election of members to the Committee on Estimates culminated with all applicant members being elected unopposed after only 29 candidates applied for the 30 member committee.
New Delh: The election of members to the Committee on Estimates culminated with all applicant members being elected unopposed after only 29 candidates applied for the 30 member committee.
"In connection with the election of thirty members to the Committee on Estimates, Motion in respect of which was adopted by the House on June, 24, 2019, thirty-one nominations were received up to the last date and time fixed for the purpose. Subsequently, two candidates withdrew their candidatures...the number of remaining candidates, thus, being less than the number of members to be elected, the 29 members have been declared as duly elected to serves as members of the Committee", read a notification by the parliament committee branch.

The 29 elected members include Kunwar Danish Ali, Dayanidhi Maran, PP Choudhary, KC Patel, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Dilip Ghosh, Kamlesh Paswan among others. Estimates Committee is one of the three financial standing committees of the parliament with other two being Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Committee on Public Undertakings.
The term of newly elected members of the committee will be ending on April 30, 2020. (ANI)
