Tuhin Kanta Pandey assumes charge as SEBI Chairman
Pandey, who is a 1987-batch IAS officer from the Odisha cadre, would replace Madhabi Puri Buch, who completed her three-year tenure on Friday, February 28.

Mumbai: Tuhin Kanta Pandey, who was appointed as the 11th Chairman of the capital market regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), assumed charge on Saturday.
"SEBI is a very robust market institution, it has been built over the years. We behold the trust of the people of India, behold the trust of our Parliament, behold the trust of the government, behold the trust of the investors, behold the trust of the industry. Trust is vital for us," he said after taking charge as SEBI Chief.

1987-batch IAS officer
He was serving as the Finance Secretary. Pandey, who is a 1987-batch IAS officer from the Odisha cadre, would replace Madhabi Puri Buch, who completed her three-year tenure on Friday, February 28.
Pandey has been appointed Chairman of the SEBI for three years, a government order showed.

His precessor, who is reportedly unwell, was not present when Pandey arrived at SEBI's office in Mumbai.
