New Delhi: With the nationwide 3-day strike by private bus and truck drivers, to protest against the stringent jail and cash-fine rules for drivers under the new Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for hit-and-run cases, entered its second day on Tuesday.
In many cities, vehicles were seen lining up at petrol pumps as feul supply was affected across the country.
On Monday, protestors have enforced a 'chakka jam' and blockaded roads and highways across many states including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and MP, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
Under the new law, which has replaced Indian Penal Code IPC), drivers who cause a serious road accident by negligent driving and flee away without informing the police or any other official can face punishment of up to 10 years in jail or/and a fine of Rs7L.
