Sepahijala: Assam Rifles in a joint operation with the Customs Department, seized 406 kgs marijuana worth Rs 1.86 crore hidden in the forest area of Neuramura Taibandal, Sepahijala district on Sunday.

"Based on the specific information regarding the presence of a large quantity of marijuana hidden in the forest area of Neuramura Taibandal , Sepahijala District. A joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles and the Customs Department, resulting in the recovery of 406 kg of marijuana worth Rs 1.86 crore," Assam Rifles said.

Assam Rifles said that the seized consignment has been handed over to the Customs Department of Agartala for further legal proceedings.

Earlier in April, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Customs Department, seized 188 kgs of marijuana valued at approximately Rs 84.60 lakh on Sunday.The operation was conducted in the general area of Apurba Shil, Sepahijala District, Tripura, marking a substantial blow to illegal drug operations in the region, said the Assam Rifles.
