New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay the release of former Uttar Pradesh minister Amarmani Tripathi and his wife Madhumani who are serving a life term in the poet Madhumita Shukla murder case.

However, the Supreme Court has issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh government, Amarmani Tripathi and his wife Madhumani on a petition filed by Nidhi Shukla, sister poet Madhumita Shukla against the release of Amarmani Tripathi.

The Top Court has sought a reply to the notice within 8 weeks.
