Sri Lanka: President Gotabaya reshuffles cabinet, appoints 17 ministers to combat current crisis

Colombo: While anti-government protests are going on following the economic and political crisis in the country, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Monday appointed 17 cabinet ministers.
The ministers were sworn in at the President's house. This is the third cabinet reshuffle carried out by President Rajapaksa.

The new ministers have been included in the cabinet to ensure the smooth and effective functioning of the government.
Sri Lanka is facing its worst economic and political crisis since independence.There is a food and fuel shortages, soaring prices and power cuts which are affecting a large population resulting in mass protests.
