Washington (US): WhatsApp is nowadays working on a solution to add a new edit feature to the platform. At present a text may only be removed once it has been sent. However, the edit feature may make it possible to amend texts after they have been sent. WhatsApp does not yet have an edit button.

It is learnt that WhatsApp have started development on the function five years ago, but it was quickly abandoned once it was reported on Twitter. However, it has now finally considered working on the edit feature again after a five-year gap.
