Shreyas Iyer's century powers Mumbai to 382 runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Ahmedabad: Mumbai skipper Shreyas Iyer on Saturady smashed a swashbuckling hundred against Karnataka in the opening match of Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad, hepling his team make 382 runs in stipulated 50 overs. 

During his unbeaten 114 runs knock, he hit 10 sixes and five fours.

Shreyas first completed his half-century in 31 balls and then took next 19 balls to cross three-figure mark. With this ton, he reinforced his claim for a spot in Indian team for the upcoming champions trophy. 

13th List A century
Iyer scored his 13th List A century at a strike rate of 207.27. Shreyas got good support from Shivam Dubey (63 not out off 36 balls). The two shared a 144-run partnership in 65 balls.

Iyer has been in great form for the last few months. Iyer, who scored a century and a double century in the Ranji Trophy, also scored a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 and made his team the champion. And now he has started off the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a brilliant century.

Notably, Shreyas Iyer does not have a central contract. However, his claim in ODIs is still strong. He played his last ODI match for Team India in Sri Lanka in August.
