Mumbai: Veteran politician Sharad Pawar on Tuesday announced that he is stepping down as the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

"I am resigning from the post of the national president of NCP," said Pawar.

After Sharad Pawar's announcement, Ajit Pawar said to party workers, "There is no need to get emotional; Sharad Pawar will continue to guide the party even after resigning..." (with Agency inputs)
