Senior journalist commits suicide at his residence

Dehradun: A senior journalist and amateur photographer allegedly committed suicide by hanged himself at his ancestral home in Kotdwar (Pauri district) in Uttrakhand.

 

According to the police and local people of the area, Kamal Joshi (65) hanged himself on Tuesday in the morning but it came to light around 5 pm yesterday when a friend trying his number did not get a response and asked one of his relatives to enquire. When the door of Joshi's room was pushed open his body was found hanging from an iron rod in the ceiling, they said.

 

No suicide note has been recovered but prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide, they said.

His Relatives, friends, fans and local people of Himalayan state demanding the judicial enquiry of the incident.

He was an amateur photographer too with some acclaimed photos to his credit.

Shocked, Joshi's brother and noted environmentalist Padma Shri Anil Joshi said he was hale and hearty and it was difficult to believe he took the extreme step. (With PTI inputs)
