Delhi/Lucknow: Security tightened at the UP-Delhi border following Lakhimpur Kheri violence. As many as eight people died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident on Sunday, said Uttar Pradesh police. Security beefed up at Union Minister Ajay Mishra's house in Delhi, fears ahead of farmers' protest.

Farmers take out a protest march in many places. Farmers are protesting in Ambala over the death of farmers in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri.  Farmers have blocked Nainital-Dehradun highway at Gadarpur in protest against the deadly attack on farmers today at Lakhimpur.

FIR lodged in Lakhimpur violence case against Union Minister Ajay Mishra's son for allegedly running a car over protesting farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri. Several other people have also been named in the First Information Report (FIR).  

Lucknow Police take Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav into custody outside his residence where he staged a sit-in protest this morning after being stopped from going to Lakhimpur Kheri where 8 people died in violence yesterday.

Several Opposition leaders from various parties including Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are also scheduled to visit Lakhimpur Kheri today.
