Jaipur (Rajasthan): Sarpanch of Lambi Ahir Panchayat of Jhunjhunu, Neeru Yadav, famous as the hockey lady sarpanch in Rajasthan, returned to Rajasthan after representing India in the CDP Meet 2024 held in New York.

Recently, she got the opportunity to attend and represent India at the annual conference, organized by the Population and Development Commission of the United Nations in New York where she spoke on the topic of the leadership experience of elected women representatives in Panchayat Raj in India.

In her speech to the UN, Neeru Yadav spoke of how she had successfully got women out of their homes and trained them to play hockey, This she said was key to developing leadership qualities amongst the girls and making them self-sufficient.

She also spoke of efforts to reduce the use of plastic in her area by replacing plastic bags with cloth bags. These bags were now being used for household needs and the making of bags had also provided women with employment opportunities.

Rajasthan Deputy CM Diya Kumari celebrated her achievement with a post on X " Sarpanch Neeru Yadav ji (Hockey wali Sarpanch) of Lambi Sahar, Surajgarh, Jhunjhunu district for achieving a historic achievement on the global platform by participating in the annual conference (CDP Meet 2024) organized by the United Nations Commission on Population and Development and sharing unique innovations."
