Lucknow: A shoe was hurled at Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya during the Party's Other Backward Classes (OBC) Mahasammelan organized at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow. A man in the garb of a lawyer threw a shoe at Swami Prasad Maurya on Monday. There was ruckus after the incident. The people caught hold of the attacker and thrashed him black and blue.

The police saved the accused from the people and took him into custody. According to the police, the accused had reached the conference venue dressed as a young lawyer. The man has been identified as Akash Saini who said that he is a priest.
