New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday announced that Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will lead Indian delegation to Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit scheduled to be held between October 15 and 16. 

Responding to a query at a press conference, MEA official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: "EAM Jaishankar will lead a delegation to Pakistan for the SCO summit which will be held in Islamabad."

 Pakistan to host SCO summit

Pakistan is hosting the SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting. SCO heads of state-level meetings are usually attended by Presidents and Prime Ministers.

The organisation was started by China, Russia and four Central Asian countries in 2001 while India and Pakistan joined the group in 2017. The organisation was formed to discuss security and economic issues in Central Asia.
