RLD chief Ajit Singh to contest LS poll from Muzaffarnagar, son Jayant from Baghpat

Rashtriya Lok Dal chief and former Union Minister Chaudhary Ajit Singh will contest the ensuing Lok Sabha election from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief and former Union Minister Chaudhary Ajit Singh will contest the ensuing Lok Sabha election from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The seat is currently held by Sanjeev Balyan of the BJP.

Singh’s son, Jayant Chaudhary will contest from Baghpat seat, which also sent his father, and grandfather Chaudhary Charan Singh to the Lok Sabha several times. The party has fielded Narendra Singh from Mathura Lok Sabha seat, which is currently held by Hema Malini of the BJP.

RLD chief Ajit Singh 

As a partner of SP-BSP RLD has got three Lok Sabha seats. SP is contesting 37 seats and BSP 38, while the alliance has left two seats—Rae Bareli and Amethi—for the Congress.

Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held from April 11 and will go on till May 19 in seven phases. The polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held in all seven phases. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
