New Delhi: Different contingents of the Indian Armed forces carried out rehearsals at Kartavya Path on Monday morning, ahead of the Republic Day in the national capital. Security has been beefed up across the National Capital ahead of the Republic day Parade on 26 January.

President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will be the Chief Guest for the 74th Republic Day Celebrations. It is the first time an Egyptian President will be the chief guest on India's Republic Day.

The Rashtrapati Bhawan, in a statement last week said that there will be no Change of Guard Ceremony between 14 January and 28, 2023 (i.e. 14 January, 21 and 28) due to rehearsals of the Republic Day Parade and Beating Retreat Ceremony.

The ceremony is a military tradition in which guards and sentries at palaces, forts and defence establishments get changed periodically to enable a fresh body of troops to take charge. (with ANI inputs)
