Rabindranath Tagore
He was born on 7 May 1861 in Kolkata. His father and mother's name were Debendranath Tagore and Sarada Devi. His nickname was ‘Rabi’.
Composed National Anthems for three nations
Rabindranath has penned India’s ‘Jan Gan Man’, Bangladesh’s ‘Amar Sona Bangla’ and Sri Lanka’s national anthem. It is said that Tagore’s Bangla poem was translated in Sinhalese and adopted as the national anthem in 1951.
Friendship with Albert Einstein
Tagore and Einstein shared a common interest of music and curiosity for general things. They had a very strong bond.
Nobel Prize winner
The first non-European person to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Travel Freak
He was an avid traveller and travelled to more than 30 countries.
