Rabada's Sudden IPL Exit: Gujarat Titans Lose Pace Ace to Personal Reasons
Rabada exits IPL 2025, returns to SA for personal reasons after 2 matches; GT confirms loss of pace spearhead but wins without him.

IPL 2025: Kagiso Rabada has made an unexpected early departure from the 2025 IPL season, returning to South Africa due to personal reasons. The Gujarat Titans pacer played just two matches before leaving the tournament, with his absence first noted during Wednesday's game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
In his brief IPL stint this season, Rabada bowled his complete quota of overs in both matches, conceding 83 runs while taking two wickets. Gujrat Titans captain Shubman Gill initially revealed Rabada's absence was due to personal matters during the toss against RCB. The franchise later confirmed the South African speedster had flown home.
Gujarat Titans issued an official statement clarifying Rabada's situation: "Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa to deal with an important personal matter." The team did not specify whether the 29-year-old fast bowler would rejoin the competition later this season.
Rabada's sudden exit deals a significant blow to Gujarat's bowling attack, as he was their marquee pace signing in this year's mega auction. However, the Titans demonstrated their depth by defeating RCB convincingly without their star bowler, with Mohammed Siraj and Arshad Khan leading the charge.
Rabada's absence leaves a void in GT's death bowling department, where Rabada had been particularly effective. In his two appearances, he delivered 14 yorkers at an average speed of 91.2 mph, showcasing his value as a premium fast bowler.
Despite this setback, Gujarat Titans currently sit fourth in the standings with two wins from three matches. The team's remaining pace options include Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph and young South African Kwena Maphaka, who may now see increased opportunities.
