Chandigarh: Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab police has arrested two main members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang on Tuesday in Mohali.

The gangsters have been indentified as Rohit Godara Gang Jashan Sandhu and Gursewak Singh, said DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav.

DGP Yadav said that Jashan Sandhu was wanted in a 2023 murder case in Ganganagar in Rajasthan and had been evading arrest by frequently changing places in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. After a stint in Dubai Jashan Sandhu came to Nepal and from there entered India by road so that he could escape his arrest.

Police has recovered one .32 caliber pistol along with 07 live cartridges from them.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Jashan played a crucial role in providing logistical support to the gang. His interrogation has led to the identification of overseas Hawala operators, travel agents, and the locations of fugitive gangsters hiding abroad—marking a significant step in dismantling these networks.
