Etawah: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief national general secretary Prof Ram Gopal Yadav on Thursday expressed apprehension that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may use the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to put opposition leaders in the dock ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Talking to media, Ram Gopal said before the 2024 parliamentary elections, every big leader of the opposition can be put in jail on the pretext of investigation by the ED. He said those in power think that by putting people in jail, terrorizing them, they can be brought under pressure. "Actually, BJP leaders have neither learnt nor they want to learn from history. When former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi jailed all the leaders of the opposition, her party was defeated in all subsequent by-elections and general elections," he said.
The SP leader said everyone knows the history of the person under whose leadership such action is being taken in Uttar Pradesh. (UNI)
