New Delhi: Former Union Home Secretary B.P.Singh was honoured by this year's Paul H. Appleby Award for his practical and intellectual contributions to public life and public administration in India, by Vice President of India and President of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday.

This award was introduced in the honour of Prof Paul H. Appleby of the Syracuse University, New York and an administrator with the F.D. Roosevelt Administration in the USA who was commissioned by the Nehru Government to study the Indian Administration and Public Enterprises and report them with needed reforms after the Independence in 1947. 


 The citation concludes as follows:
“The Paul H. Appleby Award 2017 is granted to Balmiki Prasad Singh as a renowned member of the IIPA and also for contributing exceptionally outstanding services to the Institute and to the field of Public Administration".

The Award has formerly been given to a galaxy of public men, administrators, and academicians in the past decades.
