Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met with US President Donald Trump at the White House here and discussed many important issues ranging from defence, trade to illegal immigrants. 

Trump hugs Modi
Trump welcomed PM Modi with a warm hug before the meeting. Later, both the leaders held a joint press briefing.  

India to import more US Oil
The meeting came days after Trump imposed tariff on imports from US's trading partners. Trade and tariffs figured in the meeting between both the leaders. 
PM Modi said India and the US have set a USD 500 billion target for bilateral trade by 2030, with the latter set to import more US oil and gas to bring down Washington's trade deficit with New Delhi.

The bilateral trade between both the countries was around USD 130 billion last year and the US trade deficit stands at around USD 45 billion at present.

US approves extradition of Tahawwur Rana
President Trump announced that US has approved the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, accused of 26/11 terror attack, to face justice in India.

Defence 
Trump has announced plans to provide India with F-35 stealth fighter jets.

“From this year, we will be increasing military sales to India by many billions of dollars. We are also paving the way to ultimately provide India with the F-35 Stealth fighters."

PM Modi on Ukraine War
On Being asked about the Russia-Ukraine war, PM said India stood by peace as he praised Trump's efforts to end the crisis.

PM invites Trump to India
During his meeting with Trump, PM Modi also invited him to India for the upcoming Quad Leaders’ Summit.
