New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to chair a crucial meeting on Feb 17 to finalise the name of the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), reports Dynamite News correspondent.
Notably, the outgoing Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar will demit the office on Feb 18.

The panel will also comprise the Law Minister Arjun Meghwal and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, ensuring a bipartisan approach to the selection process.

According to information, many officials are in gray to become CEC. It is said that the government also has got many names for this post. But Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is being considered frontrunner for the post. However, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu's name is also there. Both of them are currently working as Election Commissioners.
