Parliament Budget Session: MP Naveen Jindal demands IIT in Kurukshetra

New Delhi: Renowned industrialist and BJP Lok Sabha MP Naveen Jindal on Wednesday urged the Central Government to establish an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kurukshetra.
According to a Dynamite News correspondent, Naveen Jindal, who is MP from Kurukshetra, urged the government to build an IIT in Haryana during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha. Jindal emphasized that Haryana lacks an IIT, and his parliamentary constituency, Kurukshetra, would be an ideal location for setting one up.

He also informed the House that he had discussed the establishment of an IIT in Kurukshetra with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The Haryana CM and the state government are ready to provide land for the IIT, he informed the Parliament. He further stated that a letter regarding this matter has already been sent to the Ministry of Education.
The BJP MP said that Haryana has the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rewari and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Rohtak. However, the state does not have a single IIT. Therefore, the Central Government should establish an IIT in the state.

He emphasized that Kurukshetra holds great religious, spiritual, historical, cultural, and educational significance. It is also known as the land of 'dharma' and knowledge.
He added that Haryana should not lag behind in holistic development, making the establishment of an IIT in the state essential. He urged the government to set it up at the earliest.
