Islamabad: Over 150 passengers, who were taken hostage by the rebels of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) after they hijacked a train carrying over 400 passengers in Pakistan's Balochistan, have been rescued by the security forces following a gunfight with the armed rebels. 

Of the rescued, 26 are women and 11 children. The local reports also stated that 16 fighters of BLA have been killed while operation is still on.

It was still not clear how many passengers still remained on board Jaffar Express. 

The BLA on Tuesday claimed to have hijacked the Jaffar Express train in Pakistan's Bolan and taken over 400 passengers hostage.

The militant group has warned that if any military action is taken against them, they will kill all hostages.

The militants first blew up the railway track, forcing the Express to come to a halt. Then, fighters held all passengers hostage.
