Islamabad: Nine people were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in two separate firing incidents in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province during the last 24 hours, local media reported.

Around four people were killed and a woman was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car in Kala Shah Kaku town in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Wednesday.

According to police, the suspects intercepted the vehicle and opened fire on it, killing all four occupants of the car on the spot.

In a similar incident, at least five people were shot dead when unknown gunmen opened fire at a passenger van in Ahmedpur Sharqia city in Punjab’s Bahawalpur district, local media reported.

The firing incident occurred on the road in the city, resulting in the death of five passengers on the spot, rescue workers told local media, adding that the suspects fled the site. (UNI)
