Pakistan: 5 killed, 2 wounded after gunmen open fire at dam site in Balochistan

Islamabad: At least five people were killed and two others injured after unknown armed men opened fire at a dam construction site in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, officials said on Tuesday. 


The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, killing workers tasked with maintenance work of the dam, newspaper The Dawn reported, citing Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind.

The injured were rushed to a local hospital, Rind said, adding that the two injured were reportedly out of danger.


The attack comes almost a month after unknown attackers shot and killed seven labourers in Panjgur district in Balochistan. All Labourers were from Multan.

20 killed in Duki earlier this month
Earlier this month, 20 labourers were killed in a rocket attack on coal mines in Balochsitan's Duki district prompting more than 40,000 labourers to return to their native areas.

Sharif condemns the attack
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack.
