Gandhinagar: Geetha Johri is appointed as the new DGP of Gujarat on Tuesday following PP Pandey's resignation over Ishrat Jahan case.
The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Gujarat government to accept the offer of Director General of Police P P Pandey to step down immediately.
Pandey is one of the accused in the killing of Ishrat Jahan and three others. The court was hearing a plea by former top cop Julio Francis Ribeiro seeking direction for removal of Pandey on the grounds that CBI had filed charge sheet against him and others in the case of alleged fake encounter killing of Ishrat Jahan.
