P Chidambaram commends Punjab Assembly for taking up resolution against CAA today

New Delhi: A resolution is likely to be taken up by the Punjab Legislative Assembly on Friday for repealing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
Taking to Twitter, Congress leader P Chidambaram tweeted: "I commend the Punjab Legislative Assembly that will take up for consideration today a well-reasoned Resolution calling for the repeal of CAA."

The move comes close to the heels of the Kerala Assembly which passed a resolution against the amended Citizenship Act.
The Kerala government has also moved the Supreme Court against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) which grants Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi communities fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.
